Writing a blog is an interesting undertaking. Writing a blog about insurance stretches the human imagination to great lengths. While trying to gather interesting topics and make the entry worth reading, occassionally, I get writer’s block. The solution? Write about avoiding mold in your house.
I am sure you are thinking, “Really? That’s what you came up with?” Sadly, writing about Lindsay Lohan or the Kardashians doesn’t fit into an insurance blog.
Mold is everywhere. It lives wherever it is dark, warm, and moist. (My 7th grade gym locker was a perfect example of this.) It is important to pay particularly close attention to all aspects of potential sources of water in order to avoid mold problems. Repair any leak promptly. This would include a pipe, drain or roof. Be sure to dry out carpets that might get wet after a summer rain fall or snowy winter boots drying out.
Insurance doesn’t cover mold remediation unless it is caused by a covered loss and then there is a VERY limited amount of protection. Like Franklin said “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
